Miami Marlins: lineup and rotation patterns

What 2023–2025 Retrosheet data tells us about how the Miami Marlins set their lineups and used their pitchers.

A record of past seasons, not a forecast: 2027 projections will be added once rosters take shape. About these team pages.

Our read on the Miami Marlins

Miami's lineup had one fixed point and a lot of movement around it. Xavier Edwards led off 130 times, but the Marlins used 152 different batting orders, fifth most, and at five positions (catcher, third base, left field, center field and right field) no one started half the games.

Agustin Ramirez split his time between catcher (71 starts) and DH (61 starts, the most on the team). The opposing starter's hand mattered a great deal: Miami started 3.66 left-handed hitters per game against right-handers but 1.3 against left-handers. Liam Hicks started 76% of games against right-handers and 11% against left-handers, and Javier Sanoja 85% against left-handers and 36% against right-handers. Sandy Alcantara led the rotation with 31 starts.
