Our read on the Seattle Mariners
Seattle used its most common batting order more often than any other club in 2025: 13 times, and the Mariners used 100 different orders, second fewest. Cal Raleigh started 119 games at catcher, 73% of all games and third highest among primary catchers; in day games after night games that fell to 50%, against 82% otherwise.
The changes were concentrated at first base, second base, third base and right field, where no one started half the games, and several of them followed the opposing starter's hand. Mitch Garver started 98% of games against left-handers and 16% against right-handers. The rotation was one of the most stable: only nine pitchers started a game for Seattle, tied for the second fewest (St. Louis used eight), led by Luis Miguel Castillo (32 starts) and Bryan Woo (30).
